It is quite obvious that all major industrial companies make a lot of efforts and take all the necessary measures aimed at protecting the environment. Environmental protection issues and elimination of potential negative impact on the environment are among the priorities of the company policy and are given a lot of attention by OAO MSZ management.

The company leadership is fully aware of the importance of environmental issues both for the company employees and population of the town and is implementing a number of environment protection programs with the purpose of eliminating negative impact of the company on the environment. One of the key tasks was the development of environmental management system.

In August 2004 OAO “Mashinostroitelny Zavod” was certified according to the requirements of ISO 14001 international standard.

The following key environment protection issues can be identified:

• decrease of radioactive and hazardous chemical discharges to the environment;
• safe and environment-friendly handling of radioactive and toxic waste;
• waste water purification systems;
• implementation and usage of ozone-friendly refrigerants and fire-fighting agents;
• proper maintenance of the production site.
