With the purpose of monitoring and controlling the radioactive effluents to the environment OAO “Mashinostroitelny Zavod” has obtained all the required licenses for handling radioactive waste.

Radioactive effluents and discharges as well as air and soil contamination in the controlled area are monitored by OAO MSZ based on the schedules approved by the State Supervising Sanitary and Epidemiological Body (Gossanedipnadzor).

Radioactive effluents are being monitored in 64 places on the production site.

Specific a- and b- activity of the air is monitored in 3 places within the control area.

Discharges are monitored in 14 checkpoints every month.

Two times a year the level of specific a- and b- activity of the water ponds, soil, flora and bottom sediments is monitored in 24 checkpoints.

The radiation safety laboratory of OAO MSZ possesses a number of radiometric and spectrometric samplers to analyze uranium isotopic composition, determine plutonium and neptunium isotopes, to measure g-radiation and surface a-contamination, etc.
