The key environmental target of OAO MSZ is

Gradual year-by-year reduction of the negative impact of the company activity on the environment.

Implementation of the EMS provides for the control of organizational, commercial and technical activity with the purpose of achieving the environmental target set by OAO MSZ.

Environmental objectives of OAO MSZ

Environmental objectives are set by OAO MSZ for a 1-3 year period and are aimed at realizing the environmental policy and environment protection against pollution. The set environmental objectives are achieved with the help of MSZ structural departments and divisions as well as through the elaboration of work plans at different organizational levels of OAO MSZ.

Every year a significant profit share is allocated by OAO “Mashinostroitelny Zavod” for the modernization and upgrade of the process, inspection and test equipment as well as for the implementation of new technologies, inspection and test methods and personnel training.

Environmental policy of OAO MSZ

The short-time objectives of OAO MSZ are as follows:

• resources conservation;
• retention and subsequent reduction of the discharged quantities of pollutants and wastes;
• achievement of the high level of production environmental safety;
• minimization of the environmental impact from the installed equipment and facilities.

The leadership of OAO MSZ assigns the following responsibilities in order to achieve the objectives set:

• To assure safe operation of the process equipment;
• To implement state-of-the art technologies, equipment and materials having a less negative impact on the environment and leading to the reduction of natural resources consumption;
• To establish and maintain the priorities of planned and realized measures relating to the prevention of negative impact on the environment, personnel and population against the measures related to the elimination of negative impact consequences;
• To assess the environmental impact of OAO MSZ on the regular basis trying to achieve the most objective opinion;
• To assure the conformity with Federal, regional and local laws, international agreements and industrial normative requirements defining the environmental activity;
• To make and implement managerial and production decisions taking into consideration environmental aspects of planned activities, products and services;
• To assess the environmental impact of planned activities, products and services and take necessary preventive measures to exclude the risk of accidents being fully aware of the potential risks from any type of activity;
• To maintain the priority of the system approach to environment protection management focusing on international standards and implement the system approach for OAO MSZ suppliers and contractors;
• To review, update and improve as required the “Environmental policy of OAO MSZ” and communicate the changes to the personnel involved;
• To move forward in solving environmental issues, set objectives and develop programs relating to the reduction of negative impact of the activity, product and services on the environment; to improve environmental management system;
• To involve personnel to participate in the activities related to environment protection and resources conservation; to offer motivation for such a participation and raise the level of personnel proficiency in the areas mentioned;
• To inform and keep in touch with all the parties concerned with regard to the environment protection activity of OAO MSZ;
• To improve the environmental situation within the activity area and establish an open dialogue with the population, public environmental organizations, to participate in discussions and information exchange on environmental problems in the region.

The top management of OAO MSZ appeals to leaders at all the levels for being an example in the excellence and development of proper attitude to environment protection being an essential task for the company on the whole and for each individual employee as well.

The top management of OAO MSZ is responsible for the implementation of the established policy and asks OAO MSZ personnel for support.

Environmental Management System (EMS)

The environmental management system of OAO MSZ has been developed based on the requirements of ISO 14001 international standard.

The environmental management system applied by MSZ covers environmental aspects dealing with the company activity, products and services which can be controlled and influenced by MSZ.
