OAO “Mashinostroitelny Zavod” has a tube-rolling workshop of its own founded in 1984, therefore, the company does not have to depend on the outside suppliers when manufacturing nuclear fuel and produces stainless steel high-precision thin-walled tubes covering the company’s own needs as well as the needs of external customers.

 The tube-rolling workshop manufactures more than 50 standard sizes of precision thin-walled tubes made of corrosion resistant steel and alloys.

High performance state-of-the art German equipment used for the tube fabrication guarantees the tube diameter within the range of 4-120 mm and wall thickness between 0,2 and 7 mm.

The fabrication process includes the following production stages:

• Fabrication of a rough tube through mechanical treatment of the tube stock;
• Cold rolling of tubes;
• Heat treatment of tubes in vacuum or in shield gas atmosphere;
• Finishing and inspection of tubes;
• Fabrication of rolling tooling.

A lot of attention is focused on assuring high quality of the manufactured product. The fabrication of tubes has been certified according to ISO 9001 international standard (2000). The inspection is carried out according to the requirements of existing normative documentation and includes:

• Metallography examination of the tube material;
• Ultrasonic testing of the metal integrity;
• Ultrasonic testing of geometry

The technology and equipment in use at the company allow to produce high-precision thin-walled tubes with the dimensional tolerance within ± 0,03 mm; as far as the surface quality is concerned the depth of defects does not exceed 0,015 mm and the spread in values for microstructure and mechanical properties is minimal.
